Caney Creek High School (CCHS) regulates student parking with guidelines for safety and convenience. Parking for students is a privilege and not a right. Conroe ISD furnishes bus transportation; therefore, CCHS is not obligated to furnish parking for students. Conroe ISD is not responsible for loss or damage to vehicle or property. The following information applies to students requesting a parking permit.
1. Parking application information
(a) The Graduated License Law, section 545.424, which in part states: “a person under 18 years of age, during the 6-month period following issuance of a driver’s license, may not operate a motor vehicle with more than one passenger in the vehicle under the age of 21 years of age who is not a family member.”
(b) State Senate Bill 21 prohibits juveniles from possessing cigarettes and other tobacco products. Children under the age of 21 who possess or buy cigarettes can be fined up to $100 and may be subject to having their driver’s licenses suspended.
(c) Parking is limited to qualified applicants. Seniors will be given first priority followed by juniors and sophomores. Parking spaces are limited; apply early.
(d) Application for parking will not be accepted unless all outstanding fees or fines have been cleared from current and previous years.
i. Includes: lost textbooks, library books or library fines, organizational fees/uniforms, etc.
ii. Fees and fines assessed after the purchase of a sticker will result in suspended parking privileges until fees and dues are cleared.
iii. Students who apply for parking during the school year and violate the school regulations will lose their parking privileges.(see section 6 Loss of parking privileges)
iv. Students who do not have a current driver’s license, proof of insurance, or registration sticker for their vehicle will lose parking privileges.
(e) If purchased at any time during the Fall semester, the fee is $60; if purchased during the Spring semester, the fee is $30.
i. Students who lose parking privileges for disciplinary reasons are not eligible for a refund.
ii. Refunds will be on a case by case consideration with principal approval.
2. When purchasing a parking permit, the student must:
(a) provide proof of a driver’s license
(b) provide proof of liability insurance
(c) provide registration and license plate number
3. Parking Stickers
(a) The primary sticker will be issued for the assigned parking space.
(b) Additional vehicles may be registered, if the vehicle complies with the requirements in section 2, at $5 each.
(c) Alternate vehicle must be registered by 7:15am on day of use.
(d) Parking stickers and spaces are non-transferable. Students who attempt to trade or transfer parking spaces/stickers will have their privileges revoked.
(e) The parking sticker is to be placed on the right front corner of the windshield.
(f) Early release and double early release students will receive an early release sticker. See #4 for parking spot selection.
(g) The sticker may not be altered from original appearance. Altered/lost stickers will result in an additional $5 fee for new sticker.
4. Where to park
(a) Double Early release students must park in the Double Early Release Parking Lot accessed through Gate E. This is the parking lot closest to FM 2090.
(b) Regular schedule, late arrival, and single early release students are to park in their designated spot in Student Parking Lot accessed through Gate A on FM 1485.
5. Parking lot regulations
(a) Conroe ISD Police Department is authorized to issue tickets for campus parking and driving regulations.
(b) Student parking is limited to students who have paid the parking fee.
(c) Parking lot speed is 10 MPH
(d) Conroe ISD Police Department demands that students exit their vehicles and the parking lot immediately upon arrival on campus. Students must have a pass from a principal to enter the parking lot during the day. Students are to exit the parking lot at the end of the day unless involved in extracurricular activities.
(e) Students who participate in approved work programs or early release programs must have their pass and identification available and must leave the parking lot immediately. Double Early release students are to park in the Double Early Release lot on FM 2090.
(f) Vehicles not authorized to park on campus or not parked in the assigned space may be towed at the owner’s expense. Parking in unauthorized areas (fire zones, handicap, faculty, cafeteria, maintenance, visitor, ER) or parking on campus without a proper sticker may result in the following: vehicle towed and / or loss of parking privileges for ten days.
(g) Serious, or repeated violations of the Student Code of Conduct, and/or Good Driving Conduct, and/or campus speed regulations will result in campus parking privileges being revoked.
(h) Violation of campus parking and driving regulations during school could result in the following:
i. Offense #1 – warning, ticket, or vehicle towed
ii. Offense #2 – ticket, vehicle towed, and / or loss of parking privileges for ten days
iii.Offense #3 – subjective and loss of parking for year
6. Loss of parking privileges may be due to one of the following offenses but not necessarily limited to the following:
(a) Excessive tardies
(b) Truancy/contributing to truancy
(c) Failing to attend detention
(d) Failure to accurately identify oneself to authorities
(e) Campus parking violations
(f) Fighting
(g) Assaults
(h) Pulling a fire alarm
(i) Gang activity
(j) Forgery
(k) Possession/use of tobacco products
(l) Possession/distribution/selling/use of alcohol/drugs or look alike drugs/drug paraphernalia
(m) Possession of weapons
